Statement |
My work reflects my interest in sculpture as an expression of contemporary society. I view the city as social sculpture. Its monuments display social changes and contemporary values. Although public sculptures display the cultural or political shifts in society, I am primarily interested in its impact on people through its scale and physicality.
I am interested in how changes in social structures shape and form the environment we live in. Looking at the architecture, shape, mapping and the geography of the area.
"Aesthetic shapes relationships between people. Constant negotiations of life are reenacted and released in art. You can't do art unless you listen, use intuition.... Knowing how to work with differences as they change and evolve." Lucy R. Lippard from Mapping the Terrain conference. |
